European Muslim Election Assessment Committee visit to Malaysia

After two days of meeting with various components of the Malaysian electoral system, namely, the Election Commission, Minister in charge of Parliamentary Affairs, The Senate president, BERSIH and other NGOs, the delegation of European Muslim Election Assessment Committee will present their initial findings and respond to questions from the press.
The conference will be on February 5, 2013 (3pm), at the Prince Hotel Kuala Lumpur (Level 4).

Zouhair Amri

Zouhair is a successful businessman who has been very active in leading the Muslim community in both media and professional setting. He is currently the CEO of Oumma Media, the largest Muslim media company. He is also Founder and board member of UFCM ( first french foundation dedicated to the muslim consumer rights). He works with pan- European Muslim activists. He is Co- Founder of the Cedar Network (Connecting European Dynamics Achivers & Roles-models), a pan-European Muslim professional organization.

He has successfully built an IT company. As the Co-founder and Chief executive of Alakkes, an IT company, he has focused on penetrating the Open Source market in web solutions and CRM. He has a computer science degree. Zouhair is a business angel investor, and currently an investor in several IT companies including Feltacom, Synapse Services and Aywa.

Fadime Örgü (Netherlands)

Ms. Fadime Örgü served as Member of Parliament in the Netherlands between 1998 and 2006. While there, she was a member of committees for Justice, Economy, Health, Welfare and Sports; Education, Media, Culture and Science; and Social Affairs and Employment. Prior to her election, Ms. Örgü worked as a television journalist for Dutch public broadcasters. She is a member of the Netherlands’ National Swimming Federation Board of Directors and is President of Stichting Kulsan, a foundation that promotes Turkish art and culture. She is a founding board member of CEDAR, a pan-European network of Muslim professionals and member of the supervisory board of Rochdale and Portaal, one of Holland’s largest housing corporations. Örgü was appointed as president of the Rotterdam Media Commission in 2010. Ms. Örgü has studied at Rotterdam University, Leiden University and the University of Tilburg in the Netherlands and the University of Kiel in Germany.

Muddassar Ahmed FRSA

He is co-founder and Chief Executive of Unitas Communications Ltd, where he has led on projects with the United Nations, US State Department, the UK Foreign Office, the Arab League, Barclays Wealth, Mosaic, the UK National Health Service (NHS) and the British Council. Muddassar is also co-founder and Chairman of the Concordia Forum, an annual leaders retreat based in Italy.

He is also founder and Chairman of the John Adams Society, the official alumni association for US Embassy exchange program participants in England & Wales. Society members include various leaders from the corporate, media, political and community organisations. He also serves as an elected director on ENAM, a European network of American Alumni associations. Muddassar is also Young Atlantacist NATO fellow 2012/13.

He also founded and currently chairs the Hikmah Club, an exclusive network of thought leaders and professionals from the political, media and the corporate worlds, the Hikmah club sponsors include State Street Bank, PWC, Clifford Chance, HSBC, Credit Suisse, KPMG, Barclays Wealth and Ernst & Young. He is also a Fellow at the Royal Society of Arts.

Muddassar is also a founding board member of CEDAR, a pan-European network of Muslim professionals, where he also chairs the Media committee. He is also Trustee/Director of The Adab Trust, The British Pakistan Foundation, and The Newham Public Affairs Committee.
