KUCHING: Deputy Minister of Works Dato Yong Khoon Seng has given his assurance that uncompleted projects under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) would be brought forward for completion in the current 10 th Malaysia Plan.

“If the projects were only implemented in the second half of the 9MP and it takes 36 months to complete, then the projects would have to be continued for completion in the current plan.

These are normal cases, which we call ‘continuing cases,” he said.

Met by the media at his Chinese New Year open house on Thursday Yong however said that he did not have with him the list of exact number of seriously delayed projects (categorized as sick projects) in the country.

“There are not many of them (sick projects) though, probably fewer than 10 percent throughout the country. In the 9MP, the Ministry had some 6,700 projects.About 10 percent of them were delayed while the rest were completed on time. Those 10 percent will be continued in the current plan.

“We will try our best to help and look for ways and means to complete those projects,” he said.
