SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said on Wednesday, Nov 10 that he has directed the audit team of Menteri Besar Incorporated to look into the operations of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) and Selangor Foundation (YS).
He said this was done after two state assemblymen questioned the huge expenditure of the two agencies and asked him to investigate management irregularities.
During the debate on the 2011 budget estimates in the state assembly yesterday, Hulu Klang PAS assemblyman Saari Sungib questioned PKNS’s sponsorship of the RM520,000 dinner during the Astronauts’ Night in conjunction with the Malaysian visit of several astronauts from around the world.
He had also questioned the appointment of certain individuals said to be friends of a senior management executive to various positions in PKNS with big salaries.
Today, the Selangor PAS Liaison Committee handed to the menteri besar a memorandum calling for an investigation to verify Saari’s claim and take the appropriate action.
During the debate on the budget today, Datuk Amiruddin Setro (BN-Jeram) raised the question of possible irregularities in the management of the Selangor Foundation.
Amiruddin said the expenditure to mark the 40th anniversary of the foundation on Nov 15 was said to be RM300,000 but the company appointed to organise the event had already been paid in two installments.
“The question is why the payment has been made before the event,” he said.
He also said that the Selangor Foundation had spent RM170,000 on breaking-of-the-fast receptions.
Amiruddin had also questioned the cash purchase of cars for use of general managers of the foundation, and asked whether they had adhered to the financial procedures of the state. — Bernama
