Typical unfairness in the House

KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 — Bukit Mertajam MP Chong Eng was kicked out of the House today after clashing with deputy speaker Datuk Ronald Kiandee.
Chong was suspended for a day after repeatedly asking Kiandee to take action against Kinabatangan MP Bung Mokhtar Radin for misleading the house and making a personal remark against her.
The incident was sparked when Minister for Women, Family and Community Development Shahrizat Abdul Jalil was speaking on maternity leave for women, while winding up the debate on the royal address.
Bung, who joined the debate, commended the Government for granting women 90 days when they had only wanted 60.
However Chong pointed out that this was factually inaccurate because the number of days was only 60 and had asked Kiandee to warn Bung for misleading the house.
However Bung remarked that Chong was a “manipulator” and this caused uproar among Pakatan Rakyat women MPs including Zuraida Kamaruddin (PKR-Ampang) and Fong Po Kuan (DAP-Batu Gajah).
Kiandee however refused to take any action and said Bung did not mean what he said, and was only joking. This consequently led to a shouting match.
The women accused the deputy speaker of always defending Bung for “habitually” making personal and even sexist remarks.
However Kiandee lost his temper with the women and accused them of not respecting his position even after he had made his ruling.
He then asked Chong to leave the house after she refused to sit down.
Chong was accompanied out of the house by Zuraida and Fong.
